Indoor Light is a versatile product category that includes a wide range of indoor lighting solutions. This category includes different types of light fixtures that are designed for various indoor spaces, such as homes, offices, stores, and other commercial areas and can be customized to fit the specific needs of any indoor space.
What is Indoor Light
Indoor lighting refers to the artificial illumination of indoor spaces such as homes, offices, and other buildings. It is designed to provide sufficient light for people to see and perform various activities indoors, regardless of the natural lighting available. Indoor lighting can also create a desired ambiance, enhance the appearance of the space, and provide a sense of comfort and security.
Indoor lighting can be achieved through various sources such as incandescent bulbs, fluorescent lights, LED lights, and natural light sources such as windows and skylights. It can also be adjusted to different levels of brightness and color temperature to suit different needs and preferences. Good indoor lighting design takes into account factors such as the purpose of the space, the activities performed in the space, and the preferences of the occupants.
There are various types of indoor lighting fixtures, including ceiling fixtures, floor lamps, table lamps, wall sconces, and track lighting, among others. Each type of fixture can create different lighting effects and serve different purposes, such as providing ambient lighting, task lighting, or accent lighting.
Features of Indoor Light

01
Features of Indoor Light
Indoor lighting helps people see and perform tasks, such as reading, cooking, working, and socializing, in a safe and comfortable manner. Proper lighting can reduce eye strain, improve productivity, and prevent accidents.

02
Enhancing the aesthetics of indoor spaces
Indoor lighting can be used to highlight architectural features, artwork, and decor, and create a certain mood or atmosphere. Different lighting colors and intensities can evoke different emotions and convey different messages.

03
Creating a comfortable and welcoming environment
Indoor lighting can help create a warm, inviting, and relaxing atmosphere that makes occupants feel at ease and at home. Lighting can also be used to signal the time of day, such as by adjusting the color temperature and brightness of the light to mimic natural daylight.

04
Promoting energy efficiency
Indoor lighting can account for a significant portion of a building’s energy consumption. Therefore, choosing energy-efficient lighting fixtures and bulbs, as well as designing a lighting plan that minimizes waste and maximizes natural light, can help reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.
Types of Indoor Light
Linear Light: Linear lighting is defined as a linear shape luminaire (opposed to square or round). These luminaires long optics to distribute the light over a more narrow area than with traditional lighting.
Panel Light: Panel Lights are Ceiling lights which can be circular or square in shape. They produce bright illumination. Panels can be recessed, surface mounted or suspended from the ceiling.
Strip Light: A strip light is a flexible circuit board that is populated with LEDs that you can stick almost anywhere you want to add powerful lighting in a variety of colors and brightnesses.
Track light: Your home’s pre-installed fixtures aren’t the only way you can direct light from your ceiling toward your floors. Track lights mount to and protrude from your ceiling. They point directly downward, so you can use them to illuminate hallways or the very center of a room. They have a high-class and artistic feel, but you might need an electrician to help you properly install them.
Pendants: Pendants come in a wide range of colors and styles that seamlessly blend into any home decor. You can easily set up pendants by yourself (but having some friends help never hurts). Just attach some sturdy hooks to your ceiling, then run your pendant’s wire through your hooks and along walls and floors while keeping it out of view. Pendants are swanky like their track lighting counterparts, but they can be a lot easier to set up than track lights. So too can another type of indoor light often wrongly seen as challenging to install.
Ceiling light: Ceiling lights, or fixtures that are mounted flush with the ceiling as opposed to hanging lights like pendants or chandeliers, are the oft unsung heroes of the ambient lighting category.
LED: This type of indoor lighting is best known as an energy-efficient alternative to the light bulbs that dominated the 20th century. LEDs diffract in all directions and bathe your room in a soft hue. They’re long-lasting, staying lit for thousands of hours. Some models support color-changing abilities through a remote or an app, too. You’ll find LED lights in many forms, including standard bulbs and decorative and accent fixtures like strip lights and string lights.
Materials of Indoor Light
Known for its longevity and durable sustainability, brass has become a top material used in contemporary lighting design in 2019. Brass has actually been at the top of this list for a few years now, but in 2019, new brass finishes are rising in popularity. Brass requires minimal upkeep and cleaning needs, with environmentally friendly recyclability. Our THIN System is known for it’s minimal, yet luxurious brass tubing in various finishes.
Perhaps one of the most common materials in lighting, glass emphasizes luxury and crystal-like extravagance. With such versatility, glass can be textured or smooth, transparent or opaque, colored or clear. Glass lighting is easy to clean and displays a beautifully diffused aura.
Aluminum is best used for outdoor lighting and high-output fixtures, which is why this material made our top 5 list of contemporary lighting materials for 2019. As outdoor lighting becomes more curated and developed in the high-end design world, like our Rail Outdoor Lighting System, aluminum’s demand continues to rise. Aluminum can be anodized for outdoor durability and waterproofing. Aluminum is also a fantastic heat absorber for high-output light fixtures, like the Metropolis Collection. Naturally drawing heat out of the core of the fixture, aluminum serves as the best vehicle in keeping fixtures at manageable temperatures.
As one of this list’s most wide-ranging and versatile materials, using fabric with lighting is becoming undeniably popular. As markets begin integrating sound-proofing capabilities with lighting, fabric naturally serves as the variable in color palette. By utilizing high textures, and bright colors and patterns, fabric can be a playful solution to designs.
Acrylic sometimes gets a bad wrap as a cheap material, however it’s important to note there is a whole range of quality in acrylic out there. High-quality acrylic, such as the Evonik Satinice Acrylic used to product the Love Me Not Pendant, is used to create porcelain-like finishes, with a much higher flexibility than ceramic material. Acrylic’s durability and lightweight body even tops glass as a diffuser of light. Offering a delicate softness with moldable and durable attributes, frosted acrylic becomes a luxurious material for lighting.
Application of Indoor Light

Modern work spaces are very different from the conventional offices. They focus on integrating modern amenities and advanced technologies for establishing a connected, comfortable and productive work environment. Thus, they generally rely on smart indoor lighting solutions for their lighting needs. This helps in creating a perfect and harmonious ambience in all the spaces, including meeting rooms, leisure rooms, recreational rooms, corridors and cabins.
Hospitals and other healthcare facilities are some of the sensitive public institutions that are essentially required to maintain a highly controlled environment at all times. Since lighting is known to influence the mood and behaviour of the people, it is important for hospital authorities to decide on appropriate indoor lighting solutions. As per the leading LED lighting manufacturers, hospitals typically rely on LED luminaires and LED accessories for their lighting requirements. This is because LED lights are widely known to furnish clarity of vision. They do not emit heat or any type of radiation that is harmful for human health. Furthermore, they aid in creating a comfortable zone for the patients that encourages their wellness and ensures speedy recovery. These lighting solutions also assist doctors, staff and other healthcare professionals in efficacious examination. As a result, many healthcare facilities have laid their reliance on suspended luminaires and smart lighting solutions for their illumination needs.

It is the environment and the surroundings that governs the productivity and concentration levels of the students. Since lighting is the primary determinant of a comfortable and productive indoor environment, authorities typically invest on highly efficient indoor lighting solutions. For instance, many of them have installed suspended luminaires and recessed luminaires as they furnish an environment that is conducive to learning. Lighting traditionally served as an underrated element in the commercial buildings. However, people are now acknowledging the use of innovative smart indoor lighting solutions like Human Centric Lighting that promotes good health, productivity, and well-being along with efficiency and sustainability.
How to choose Indoor Light
1.Consider each room’s function
General or ambient lighting acts as the overall lighting of a room. It illuminates all of the room and is considered the room’s “natural light.” You might use a chandelier, pendant light, track lighting or wall sconces to create ambient light that fills the room.
Task lighting lights up a work or reading area. You want this lighting to be brighter than your ambient lighting, so the contrast focuses the light in the specified area. Desk lamps and under-cabinet kitchen lights are common task lighting options. But pendants and track lighting can be used for task lighting, too, but it depends on how you layer the lighting in your room, and how bright your bulbs are (which we’ll cover in a bit).
Accent lighting highlights a particular area, like a work of art or a bookcase. It usually creates shadow around the object for a dramatic effect. Wall lights and landscape lights are common accent lights.
2.Pick your fixtures
Ceiling mount fixtures: Pretty standard for ambient lighting. The House Designers say they’re ideal in entry foyers, hallways, bedrooms, task areas, stairways. In hallways, they recommend spacing out fixtures every eight to 10 feet for adequate illumination.
Chandeliers: When used for general or ambient lighting, they’re best used in dining room or bedrooms.
Wall-mounted fixtures: These are usually sconces. They can be used in any room for ambient, task, or accent lighting, depending on where you put them and what kind of bulb you use.
Pendant lighting: Used for task or general lighting, they hang from the ceiling and are equipped with shades to avoid glare. They work best over dining room tables, countertops or other work areas.
Recessed lighting: Again, recessed lighting can be used anywhere for general, task or accent lighting. It all depends on how bright they are and where they’re located.
Track lighting: You can use track lighting for pretty much anything, too. It’s especially versatile because you can often move the individual lamps around and point them in whatever direction you want. This might be as an accent to highlight some artwork, or you might just use them to illuminate the whole room.
Table lamps: Great for accent lighting in a living room or task lighting in a bedroom.
